Description
The Director Marketing Analytics & Strategy (MA&S) is a key member of Gap Inc. Direct's (GID) divisional marketing organization - with responsibility for driving marketing strategy through the rigorous use of analytics and performance reporting. Channels include SEO, Paid Search, Affiliates, Display Media and emerging programs. GID Marketing (also known as GID Business Development) is responsible for managing global online acquisition marketing for Gap Inc.'s five brands (Gap, Old Navy, Banana Republic, Piperlime and Athleta).

For this newly created role, we are seeking and individual with experience building new teams, developing and delivering upon an analytic roadmap, measurement and new processes. The successful candidate will likely come from an analytic marketing, business development, CRM, direct response or analytics function within a multichannel retailer or major consulting firm. This is a tremendous opportunity for an individual to build a function from the "ground up" in a high-visibility role at America's largest specialty apparel retailer.

Primary Responsibilities
-Work with the Sr. Director and Marketing leadership to set and execute analytics priorities for the team. Develop and deliver upon tool and analytics roadmap for reporting, budgeting, testing and analytic rigor.
-Communicate complex analytic and business programs to senior leadership in a meaningful and understandable way.
-Define a best-in-class comprehensive measurement framework, establishing data management strategy across external and internal sources, including governance, warehousing, and portability.
-Update and develop reporting and tools to improve visibility and tracking of performance of marketing vehicles - singularly and in relation to one another. Tools to be used to ensure that the right investment and allocation approaches to budgeting and performance (online and in stores) and to deliver on program commitments and ensure appropriate budgeting. Work with vehicle managers and brand business partners in defining the approach.
-Represent Business Development point of view in evaluating vendor's analytic and data capabilities and in determining who we partner with. Represent best approach to testing new partners or concepts.
-Work with internal team/s and third parties to set up processes and best practices for data transfer and QA (as appropriate). This role is not responsible for delivering data or addressing concerns - but partners with groups to determine processes.
-Sets standards and approach for testing. Determines framework and reporting structure for testing, by vehicle. Approve any tests that fall outside pre-established framework. Develop approach to how results are conveyed.
-Strategic center of excellence responsible for delivering a point of view and proto types, but not an operational service center for the team. This is not a reporting team. The team is not responsible for delivering regular reports, but rather developing the tools and approach to do the reporting
-Manage team of 3 in a rapidly growing group in the organization. Direct reports include an analyst, a strategist and a developer.

Skills
-The core skills required for success include: hands on business analytics, experience within retail (stores) and ecommerce, and an understanding and comfort working with data schemas (including CRM customer models)
-Strong written and verbal communications and a track record of being politically savvy is critical.
-Ability to learn new tools quickly - there are no expectations of pre-existing skills with specific tools.
-The ability to form and communicate a strong point of view on a data approach based on usability and data integrity.
-Ability to prioritize work and resources, keeping business value at the forefront of the decision making process.
-Track record of building consensus between a variety of stakeholders, yet biased to decisive action to drive toward goals.

Qualifications
-4-year degree in Marketing, Finance, or Statistics is required. MBA strongly desired.
-8+ years relevant professional experience.
-Experience managing teams of at least 3, ideally managing managers of others.
-Reports to Sr. Director, Marketing
Please note - this is not a technical leadership role. Individuals with strong technical skills but lacking strong business experience will not be considered.
